3,900 users will move to a more integrated approach to duty management as part of the force’s wider technology transformation
Staffordshire Police has selected field service management technology provider Totalmobile to modernise workforce rostering and duty management across the force, supporting approximately 3,900 users.
Workforce Rostering, part of Totalmobile’s Field First platform, will replace legacy duty management systems and integrate with Staffordshire Police’s wider Oracle Fusion system. Scheduled to go live in November 2027, the technology will give the force a clearer view of staff availability, while reducing duplicate administration and improving the consistency of data held across its systems.
John Bowler, Service Director – DdaT, at Staffordshire Police, said:
Managing duties across an organisation like Staffordshire Police involves a huge amount of coordination, so we need technology that makes that process simpler for our teams and gives us confidence in the information we’re working with.
“Bringing duty management more closely together with our other core systems is an important part of that. We want our people to have a clearer, more joined-up way of working, and we’re looking forward to working with Totalmobile to put that in place.”
– John Bowler, Service Director – DdaT, at Staffordshire Police,
Staffordshire Police serves more than 1.1 million people across approximately 1,000 square miles, with officers, staff, PCSOs and Special Constables working across different roles, locations and shift patterns. The new technology will give teams a more consistent view of duties, availability and resources, while helping manage the approvals, working-time requirements and police regulations that come with coordinating people at this scale.
Managers will also have better visibility of where people and skills are available, helping them plan resources and respond when requirements change. By synchronising key organisational, employee, absence and payroll data with Oracle Fusion, Staffordshire Police also aims to reduce the need to maintain and update the same information across separate systems.
Police forces have to coordinate thousands of people across different roles, skills and working patterns, often with requirements that can change quickly. The technology behind that needs to handle that complexity without adding more of it for the people using it.
“That’s been central to our work with Staffordshire Police. This isn’t simply about replacing an existing system; it’s about giving the force a clearer and more connected way to manage its people as part of a much wider technology programme. We’ll be working closely with Staffordshire Police and its programme partners throughout implementation to make sure the solution works for the people who will rely on it every day.”
– Ricky Moore, Managing Director of Public Sector at Totalmobile
The partnership further strengthens Totalmobile’s work across public sector and blue light services, helping organisations manage large and varied teams delivering essential services across their communities.
